Soccer Program

Soccer, more commonly referred to as football in Sierra Leone, is an integral component of Sierra Leone's culture.  Soccer unites people across different tribes and backgrounds as they share a common interest in the sport.  In Sierra Leone, soccer is predominantly played by young boys and men.  Looking Back Moving Forward is not only dedicated to promoting soccer tournaments among men but also among women. Since women are often discouraged from playing sports in this part of the world, this program will be many young girls first opportunity to play the sport. By giving young men and women the opportunity to play soccer, it will bring different tribes together and give the youth something positive to look forward to instead of getting involved in potentially dangerous activities in the community.

Sponsor a Child

For only $30 a month, you can sponsor a girl participating in our soccer program. Your donation will go towards monthly games, tournaments, and clinics, in addition to providing these young girls uniforms, food after games, purified water, transportation and annual supply of feminine products and school supplies.

When you sponsor a child you will receive a picture of the child in addition to information about what village they are from, their age, and school level.

Soccer Tournaments

Looking Back Moving Forward will host soccer tournaments for both boys and girls in different villages.  The goal is to bring multiple villages together to learn skills and life lessons that can be incorporated in all aspects of life such as communication, respect, teamwork, and humility.

Soccer Training Camps

Looking Back Moving Forward also plans on hosting training sessions for young boys and girls to learn fundamental soccer skills that they can incorporate when participating in tournaments.
